chartlbi builds on the ICES utilities for the Length-Based Indicators (LBI) algorithm. It provides an alternative to the original traffic-light display for LBI indicators.
The package uses ggplot2 for the charts and removes obsolete dependencies from the original code, including ReporteRs. It does not require Java or ReporteRsjars.
chartlbi displays each LBI indicator as a ggplot2 panel in a vertical stack. The plots compare values at each time step with their reference thresholds and use colour to show whether values meet the relevant threshold.
chartlbi does not calculate Lmaxy or Lmaxy / Lopt. In the legacy calculation, the length-frequency and weight-at-length matrices are indexed one column out of alignment: the first year is multiplied by length midpoints, later years use the previous year's weights, and the final year's weights are unused. The resulting biomass estimates are therefore unreliable.
The earlier failure when multiple length classes had identical maximum biomass has been fixed. In that case, the legacy function selects the largest of the tied length classes.
